Our uptown group typically runs in the AM. This usually means we all need to find a shower before we head off the work. Of course if you are a member of the YMCA, this is easy as the Dowd Y, Uptown Y, and Gateway Y are all very accessible: http://www.ymcacharlotte.org/
If you are not a YMCA member, Mecklenburg County Parks (your tax dollars at work) has several terrific rec centers right uptown. You can pay as you go or become a member at any of the county facilities. In particular:
Mecklenburg Aquatic Center: Monday -800 East Martin Luther King, Jr Friday 5:30am - 11am for non-members $5, $31 monthly membership for unlimited use. http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Park+and+Rec/Aquatics/Aquatic+Center+Information.htm
Showers, fitness room, best and largest indoor pools in town, free parking, and closest rec center to the Dowd Y.
